Dorothy House Hospice Care aims for Ubiety to generate a new source of income to help meet the increasing care needs of a growing number of patients with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers. The charitable Hospice provides free, palliative and end of life care services across a 700 square mile community in Bath and North East Somerset, and parts of Somerset and Wiltshire. 

Tasked with finding new ways to increase revenue for the Charity, Dorothy House colleagues and volunteers researched and developed a luxurious, therapeutic range of skincare products to bring to market.

The Complementary Therapies Team at Dorothy House are experts in supporting patients, their families and carers to escape the stresses of life, to relax and live in the moment.  Dorothy House therapies include Aromatherapy, Reflexology and massage, often using essential oils and natural skincare products to promote a sense of relaxation and wellbeing.

After a member of the Arcania team’s close relative was cared for by

Dorothy House Hospice Care, Arcania Apothecary Ltd. wanted to work with Dorothy House. 

Complementary Therapy Lead and Aromatherapist, Lisa Smith met with the Arcania team to discuss developing fragrance blends and base oils for use in Dorothy House in-house therapies.  With a shared understanding of the power of natural ingredients to encourage mindfulness and relaxation as part of Dorothy House’s holistic care practice, it was a match made in heaven!

Our partnership with Arcania grew further when founder Richard Howard, a long-standing supporter of the Hospice movement, generously offered to develop a product range for us, without charging for Research and Development costs.

With over 20 years of experience in cosmetic science and perfume innovation, Arcania Apothecary Ltd. produces botanically-based face, body and hair products. Arcania manufactures for high end natural brands and has an ethical approach to skincare, only working with partners who have a story to tell and who believe in the longevity of their brand purpose, with a passion for their product and respect for their customers.

Dorothy House’s Business Development and Complementary Therapies Team collaborated closely with Arcania to develop Ubiety – a collection of luxury, therapy products, launching a new lifestyle brand.

Every fragrance uses Richard’s and our in-house aromatherapists’ expertise to maximise therapeutic benefits that respond to the consumer desire to break away from the stresses of day to day and instead enjoy life, through mindful and indulgent experiences.


Limelight Bath creates luxurious home fragrance ranges. Started in 2016, founder Cathy Biggs warms every candle glass on her kitchen Aga, before hand-pouring each natural wax candle. 

Selling products at local artisan and farmers markets and supplying luxury boutique hotels with their own bespoke products, production has stepped up and Limelight is now a growing, national business.

Cathy saw the potential for a brand that united a sustainable plant-based wax with heavenly essential oil fragrances.  Her candles are characterised by excellent scent throw and both candles and diffusers have a devoted and growing fan base.  Customers love the rare combination of affordable luxury, great presentation and excellent customer service. 

Limelight will be producing Ubiety’s home fragrance products the scents of which is provided by Arcania and which has similar therapeutic benefits to the skincare products.


Our brand name ‘Ubiety’ was the creative gift of the Junior Design team at the awesome brand agency Taxi Studio, in Bristol.

Taking that ‘seed’ and growing it into something beautiful, was the task of our design agency, Supple Studio. A top 30 UK design studio for 2018, this innovative design and branding agency based in Bath, with clients all over the UK and further afield, provides small agency thinking paired with big agency impact.

Supple don’t follow the latest trends; instead they follow their gut instinct for timeless ideas. 

With their small dedicated team and a large network of partners and experts, Jamie and Phil quickly got to the core of our purpose, understanding our inspiration and translating our ideas into gorgeous design with luxe appeal. They just ‘get it.’
